Group work wins
Skills@Library has two awards for their online materials from national education service Jorum.
Developed through the LearnHigher partnership of Leeds, Bradford and Brunel universities, the e-learning resource helps staff and
students manage the challenges of group work. It was described by the judges as ‘an excellent example of the use of video and role-play to present examples of group work’. The resource also won an award for use of video.

Brownlee is triathlon world champion
Sports science graduate Alistair Brownlee has been crowned champion of the 2009 ITU World Series at the Grand Final in Australia’s Gold Coast on 13 September.
Alistair dominated the 2009 World Series with four consecutive wins in Madrid, Washington, DC, Kitzbühel and London.
This latest triumph makes Alistair the first triathlete to become world champion at junior, under-23s and elite levels, and he becomes only the fourth British Male World Champion in Triathlon.
Guardian student media awards
Leeds Student newspaper has been shortlisted for the Guardian’s award for best student newspaper. LS:TV’s Benjamin Waterhouse is a finalist for broadcast journalist of the year. The awards will be announced in November.
