Chairs
Professor Gerard McCormack has been appointed as a
chair in international business law in the School of Law.
His research areas of expertise include secured credit and corporate rescue law, as well as general corporate law, and he describes himself as a “boyhood supporter of Leeds University”. He has previously worked at the National University of Singapore, the University of Southampton, University of Manchester and Queens University Belfast.
Professor John Flowerdew has joined the School of
Education as a chair in applied linguistics at the Centre
for Language Education Research, having arrived from
Hong Kong’s City University. He specialises in the study
of academic and political discourse, the use of English
in international settings, and second language teacher education. Professor Flowerdew has authored or edited
numerous books and international journal articles,
including Advances in Discourse Studies (2008) and
Second Language Listening: Theory and Practice (2005).
