New look Refectory will tempt your tastebuds

The RefectoryThe Refectory has reopened this term to reveal the stunning results of a £4.5 million refurbishment, making it a great place to enjoy healthy, international cuisine - seven days a week.

“The Refectory is already a legendary music venue, and we hope it will become the social heart of the campus as well - for breakfast, lunch and dinner,” said Beverley Kenny, assistant director of catering and conferencing.

“Words really can’t describe how marvellous the new facility is, it definitely needs a visit! We’ve worked hard to balance nutritious food that is good value for money with ethical and environmental considerations such as sustainability, food miles and Fair Trade.”

Hungry staff and students can choose from a wide variety of foods, such as ‘tastes of the world’ (eg Thai green chicken curry),‘deli fusion’ (eg halloumi and roast vegetable mezze), a noodle bar, fresh salads, hot soups (eg butternut squash and ginger soup), sandwiches, jacket potatoes, traditional meals (eg roast beef and Yorkshire pudding), or Italian pizza and pasta. For something a bit different, chefs can prepare your food on-the-spot in the ‘wok theatre’.

The all-modern venue is equipped with PCs and wireless internet so you can surf the internet or check emails any time. The transformation also ensures the building is a versatile space for conferences, banquets, and University events catering for up to 600 people.

The Refectory is open during term time from 8am till 6.30pm Monday to Friday, and 10am till 4pm at weekends.
