Skills suite opens

Stephen Kendrick and Peter McWilliam

Dean of healthcare studies Professor Peter McWilliam is joined by Stephen Kendrick in cutting the ribbon to open the new clinical skills suite in the school. Named in memory of Stephen’s father, nursing lecturer Kevin Kendrick, who died in September 2001, the clinical skills suite will offer healthcare students, including nursing, midwifery and radiography, a safe environment to practise moving and handling patients, examinations, resuscitation and other skills. There are special facilities to practise communication skills and students will get an idea of what it feels like to be on the receiving end by acting as ‘patients’ – a key part of any nursing students’ education.
