NI investigation

Human rights professor Colin Harvey has joined Guildford Four lawyer Gareth Pierce and American lawyer Ed Lynch in a community-led investigation into the deaths of six North Belfast men in 1973. Four of those killed were shot by British soldiers but those responsible for the other deaths have not been identified.

Professor Harvey said: “In the absence of a formal ‘truth commission’, strength of feeling has driven the families to set-up their own informal community inquiry. We will be hearing evidence from witnesses, families and others and our role is to reach independent conclusions based on that evidence.”
