Royal Society research fellow at the University of Cambridge, Giles Davies will take up a chair of terahertz photonics in the school of electronic and electrical engineering from October 1. His research interests include the use of terahertz radiation in imaging and spectroscopy.



Formerly a reader in the same school, Paul Harrison takes up a chair of quantum electronics. His research introduces the quantum mechanical theory of electron scattering into the design of quantum electronic devices such as lasers and photodetectors.



David Ormerod, formerly professor of the University of Hull, has been appointed professor of law at Leeds. David Ormerod’s main research interests are in criminal law and the law of evidence and criminal procedure.
