Leeds to Romania

Equipment from geography labs in Leeds is on its way to an intensive care unit in Romania. An autoclave – sterilising machine – will be the only sterilising equipment at the Targu Mures intensive care unit.

Leeds technician David Ashley was approached by the Jubilee Outreach Yorkshire project for the autoclave. The charity has been collecting and sending out a range of supplies and equipment to Eastern European countries including Romania since 1990.

Project leader and Leeds graduate Dr Kathy Tedd said: "We're really pleased that the University is donating this machine. It will make a huge difference to the hospital in Targu Mures and all of its patients."

If you have equipment to donate or are interested in volunteering please contact Dr Kathy Tedd on 01274 531999.
