Adoption leave policy

All University staff adopting children under 18 are now entitled to time off under the University's new adoption leave policy. The policy aims to bring entitlement into line with maternity leave, while taking into account the different needs of adoptive parents. A shorter notice period than for maternity leave will be allowed, and reasonable time off prior to the adoption date will be included, to allow for official meetings and visits.

The new policy was drawn up in consultation with the trade unions, human resources and heads of resource centres. It will bring University policy into line with new regulations, due to come into force in July. For more information, and copies of the policy contact Ruth Buller or Chris Craven on ext 32204, email or
