Confidential and free – by phone

A new counselling service, Confidential Care, has been launched for all University staff and immediate family members. The free service – part of the 'rewarding and developing staff' initiative – is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year via a freephone number. The service is totally confidential.

All counsellors are professionally trained to discuss any issues of concern, though, where appropriate, they can refer staff to other services, including specialist legal or financial advice or up to five sessions of face-to-face counselling, all free of charge.

The University will monitor take-up and effectiveness of the service to see if further support might be offered to staff on specific issues, but will not be told who accesses the service or why.

The service is provided by Counselling in Companies (CiC), part of the charity The Westminster Pastoral Foundation (wpf).

Staff counsellor Dr John Adams and the occupational health team will continue to offer long-term help and support to staff members.

A letter outlining the service in more detail is to be sent out to all staff, followed by a leaflet and card (pictured left). Any concerns or questions, contact Lisa Furlong on 33430 or email
