for a formal complaints panel under the procedures introduced
four years ago. There were 38 complaints received centrally
in 2000-01, ten fewer than the previous year, and the
majority were resolved locally.
system encourages informal resolution of complaints, as
close as possible to the point the problem occurred. Although
students have the option of a formal investigation, all
complaints have been resolved before reaching the final
stage of a formal complaints panel. The procedure has
