Retirements
Senate
has adopted resolutions on the retirement of the following
professors:
Professor
David Beetham came to Leeds in April 1980, to
take up the professorship of politics. He is one of the
best-known and most distinguished experts in the field
of democratic theory and practice.
Professor
Anthony Johnson came to Leeds in April 1996 as
professor of polymer science and technology. He was also
associate director of the interdisciplinary research centre
in polymer science and technology involving the universities
of Bradford, Durham and Leeds.
Professor
Tim King joined the University in 1998 as professor
of mechatronics in the school of textiles and design,
where he initiated several new areas of research, including
the removal of fibre contamination in wool scouring.
Professor
John Self was appointed professor of knowledge
based systems at the University in 1996, where he continued
to foster a multidisciplinary approach to research in
computer assisted learning.
