Two studies require volunteers:

Reading for pleasure

Do you love reading? Have you always got your head in a book? Then you might like to take part in a study of reading for pleasure, being run by Dr. Zazie Todd of the School of Psychology.

The study aims to investigate some of the aspects of reading that give us enjoyment. Participants from all walks of life are wanted for reading groups that will read contemporary novels and then meet up to discuss them. The novels will be specially selected for the study and will cover a range of styles. Participants will have to commit to read a book every four - five weeks, and then attend a group discussion that will be tape-recorded for research. Although participants won't get to choose the novels, books will be provided free of charge and can be kept at the end of the study.

If you think you would like to take part, please contact Zazie Todd. You will be sent a questionnaire about your reading habits, and asked to say what times of the day/week would suit you for the reading group meetings. If you have any questions about the study, or would like to take part, please contact Zazie Todd: email or telephone 0113 233 5731.

Nutrition and obesity

The Human Appetite Research Unit (School of Psychology) needs volunteers to take part in a study on diet and obesity. People who can eat whatever they want without putting on weight and those who put on weight easily are required. Participants will receive feedback on their dietary intake, metabolism and body compostion. £20 is payable on study completion.
