LUBS design award

Leeds University Business School has won an award for best altered building in the City of Leeds awards for architecture. The only award in its category, the project was commended for the quality and standard of the 15m refurbishment of the former Leeds Grammar School, designed and built by E M Barry in 1857.

Director of estates Robert Sladdin said: "This is a fitting acknowledgement of an exciting design, created to provide state-of-the-art factilities for the business school, but also to restore the buildings – extensively 'modernised' in the 1960s – to their former glory."
