A mutual benefit

Building societies give the best return on your money, according to a survey carried out by LUBS' International Institute of Banking and Financial Services.

The research team found that building societies consistently offer the best rates of return, in both instant access and notice savings accounts. By analysing interest rates on these accounts, the Institute was able to rank mutuals, converted mutuals and traditional banks in order of value for money. In the majority of cases, mutuals took the number one ranking.
