Chairs
Professor
Tony Hartley has been appointed to a chair of translation
studies. Within a general quest to define 'quality' in
translation, his current research is looking at ways of
automatically predicting the relative performance of machine
translation systems. His interests also include the cultural,
linguistic and technical issues of designing multilingual
software and websites.
Senate
has adopted resolutions on the retirement of the following
professors, upon whom Council has now conferred the title
of Emeritus Professor:
