Five year funding

Senior lecturer Jackie Hill (pictured above) of the musculoskeletal rehabilitation unit has been awarded one of three high-profile posts in a new 500,000 project funded by the Arthritis Research Campaign, to promote academic research in nursing or related fields. The lectureships are for professionals who have a commitment to rheumatology and research.

"Gaining this post is very exciting, as it will enable me to focus more of my time on research," said Dr Hill. "As well as a five-year programme of research investigating patient outcomes related to nursing care, we are intending to set up course modules in rheumatology nursing. These combined initiatives will hopefully encourage a younger generation of nurses to work in the speciality, as it's an area where nurses can actually transform patients' lives."
