Engineering degrees

A new pharmaceutical chemical engineering degree begins this year, responding to the rapid acceleration in drug discovery and development, and the increasingly demanding manufacture and delivery of complex new pharmaceutical products.

Professor Roberts (centre) with visiting professor Simon Ruddick and Anci Kvarnstrom of Managing Strategy Group, which is managing the collaboration with Astra Zeneca

The degree has been designed by Brotherton Professor and head of chemical engineering Professor Kevin Roberts, in collaboration with Astra Zeneca.

Professor Roberts said: "Rapid change in the pharmaceutical industry, like the human genome project, means there is a greater need for chemical engineering graduates specially trained with additional pharmaceutical skills."
