Fatter pay packets

Pay awards of up to 5.1% for all staff have been implemented following agreement with unions on June 25. Actual pay packet increases are being staged in a complex formula leading up to the introduction of a single pay scale for all University staff in August 2002.

All staff earning less than 11,000 will have received lump sums of 560 (backdated to April 1 for academic, technical and related staff) and 470 (backdated to July 1 for clerical and related staff) in their August pay packets.

Remaining academic, technical and related staff received 3% in August, backdated to April 1, and will get another 1% in their September 2001 and 1% in March 2002 pay packets.

Clerical (and related) staff earning more than 11,000 received 3% in July and will get another 1.25% in January 2002.
