Dinosaur island

Fossil plant expert Dr Jane Francis of earth sciences will be taking part in an excavation of fossil dinosaur sites on the Isle of Wight, to be broadcast live on BBC2. The programme, called Live from dinosaur island, will be shown from Sunday 10 June to Friday 15 June at 8pm.

The Isle of Wight is famous for its dinosaur fossils, and the excavation will be using ‘active’ sites where fossils have already been located. Dr Francis will be on hand to identify any plant fossils discovered, and to talk about the ancient climates and environments which existed on the island 120 million years ago.
