Professor Robert McNeill Alexander is one of just
26 non-US honorary members elected this year to the American
Academy of Arts and Sciences, acknowledging his work to
advance the field of biomechanics, pioneering computer
models of animal locomotion and athletic performance in
humans.
Professor
John Childs of the school of history and centre for
military history has been appointed chairman of the English
Heritage battlefields advisory panel, succeeding the late
General Sir Martin Farndale.
The
Faculty of Family Planning & Reproductive Health Care
of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
has awarded Mr Babatunde Gbolade, consultant gynaecologist
and director of the fertility control unit at St Jamess,
the 2001 Janssen-Cilag travelling scholarship to visit
the reproductive health program at the University of Rochester,
New York.
