toast for new virtual training suite
University of Leeds was one of six UK universities chosen
to launch the new Resource Discovery Network virtual training
suite with a simultaneous champagne toast.

is a new national internet initiative providing a series
of forty free tutorials delivered over the Web, each designed
to teach internet literacy for a specific subject. The
tutorials are useful for both staff and students, and
help to develop the skills of locating, evaluating and
using relevant Internet resources.
of the tutorials – internet philosopher, internet theologian,
internet for religious studies and internet for the history
and philosophy of science – were written by University
staff and postgraduates including those from the Philosophical
and Religious Studies learning and teaching support network.
suites offer the opportunity to tour key web sites in
the chosen subject area, and practical ideas for using
the internet to support study, teaching or research, with
emphasis on the critical evaluation of internet information.
to interesting sites can be placed in a ‘basket’ to be
viewed after the tutorial is completed, and the tutorial
explains how to bookmark sites for later use.

health and life sciences, humanities, internet information,
physical sciences, social sciences, business and law,
