It’s all a game

Delegates from as far afield as Japan, Croatia, Australia, New Zealand and the USA will play survival games and test out business situation role plays at this year’s annual conference of the Society for the Advancement of Games and Simulations in Education and Training (SAGSET), to be hosted by the Skills & Employability Unit from 17 to 19 July at Devonshire Hall.

Entitled ‘Employability: the role of games, simulations and case studies’, the conference is being organised jointly by SAGSET and student development officer Maggie Boyle, who also manages the national context project promoting the use of these aids in higher education and has been instrumental in developing many materials.

This year’s event in Leeds is on the theme of ‘Employability and the development of Key Skills’, and will discuss ways in which the use of these activities develops students and employees. It will provide delegates with a venue for the presentation of papers about design as well as a chance to explore the use of existing games and simulations with colleagues in related areas.
