Useful connections

The University of Leeds is now connected to the fastest computer network ever provided for education and research in the UK. SuperJANET4 is the latest upgrade to the JANET network, which provides the University with access to email, newsgroups, videoconferencing and the web, as well as fast connections to academic resources such as electronic journals, mailing lists, databases, training and research, some of which is only available through SuperJANET4. While connection is already over 15 times faster than the previous network, this is set to increase again by 2002.

SuperJANET4 is divided into regional networks, and the University operates the connection for all participating institutions in Yorkshire and the Humber. Leeds will be helping a further 26 FE colleges to join the network this year.
