New appointments

Mrs Linda Mortimer Pine has been appointed to the post of deputy director of human resources. She joins the University from the University of Leicester where she was a senior personnel manager. Linda will take a leading role in the development of future human resources policies and strategies as well as coordinating the implementation of the current employment agenda.

John Binns has been appointed as head of security & support services in estate services succeeding George Blanchflower, who retired last December. A graduate of the University of Leeds, John retired in 1998 from West Yorkshire Police in the rank of Superintendent after 31 years with the force. He has held operational roles in both Leeds and Wakefield, and was seconded for a time to New Scotland Yard as head of public order.

Andrew Parkinson has been appointed to the new post of Academic Registrar, managing the central Student Office, the Research Degrees and Scholarships Office and the Academic Support Unit (formerly Departmental Support Unit) and overseeing the integration of the Banner student system.
