the Reporter on the debate about BSE have sparked the
idea for a symposium to be held at the University. When
Malcolm Povey of Food Sciences and Professor Cliffe of
POLIS aired their views in the letters column following
Professor Lacey’s vindication in the Phillips Report on
BSE, they realised that the issue raised many questions
about the relationship between their two fields.
The two academics
decided to jointly organise a symposium Science at the
interface with politics – the case of BSE on Thursday
10 May and the contributions will be edited into a book
on the issue.
