Twinning the towers

Wembley Stadium is to be scanned, twin towers and all, to create a 3D computer model for the new stadiumís website and information centre.

The Leeds University spin-off company, Applied Modelling Technologies Limited (AMT), which specialises in producing high quality 3D computer models of real environments, won the contract to capture the scanned images of Wembley before the bulldozers finally move in.

Hundreds of thousands of data points will be taken from outside and inside the stadium, coupled with hundreds of digital photographic images, to texture the final model.
