The Rock Deformation Research (Leeds Innovations/Schools of Earth Sciences) is the only UK participant in a major new Australian co-operative research centre on predictive mineral discovery aimed at increasing the effectiveness of mineral exploration around the world.
Led by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, the seven-year programme will involve universities and businesses around the world with a planned budget in excess of A$25 million. Rock Deformation Research has been working closely with the CSIRO on a number of projects involving the numerical modelling of gold deposits during the past three years.
