The Northern and Yorkshire Clinical Trials and Research Unitís (NYCTRU) new home on the University campus has been officially opened by Professor Sir John Pattison, the national director of research and development for the Department of Health/NHS Executive.
Professor Pattison praised the success of the Unit in helping Leeds and Yorkshire win the bid to become the national cancer research network co-ordinating centre.
Now at 17 Springfield Mount, the Unit promotes and organises high-quality, innovative, multi-centre, randomised clinical trials and research projects, offering full support from grant application, through to publication.
It is well known for its work in cancer research, and also conducts trials in a range of areas including minimally invasive surgery, primary care and mother and child health.
