Professor Maurice Beresford received a very special 80th birthday present from colleagues, pupils and friends – a volume of essays written by them in his honour.
Professor Beresford, an Emeritus Professor in the School of History, was presented with Essays on Northern History in Honour of Maurice W. Beresford at a special party in University House.
It comprises 18 papers, together with a fourteen-page bibliography of Professor Beresford’s publications, including the well-known Walks Round Red Brick which began its life as a series of articles for this newsletter.
