Two proposals to develop foundation degrees based on distance learning via the web are being drawn up by the University in co-operation with Doncaster College and industrial partners. Mining and Mineral Engineering is the University department involved in the proposed qualifications, one in quarry technology and the other in asphalt technology. If the courses win HEFCE approval, those passing them will qualify for entry to the final year of an honours degree.
