Almost 100 MBA students at Leeds University Business School are knuckling down to one of their first-semester challenges – the Barclays Bank Business Awareness competition, organised jointly by the bank and LUBS.
Teams develop a business plan for a hypothetical enterprise of their choice, drawing up cash-flow forecasts and operating statements. It is designed to give a practical introduction to the MBA programme and to promote team-working. The winners receive a trophy and £400, awarded on November 24.
Last year’s winning team sketched plans for a fast-food venture manufacturing Chinese-style dumplings, with the runner-up a nursery business.
