Stephen Willis, formerly head of financial analysis and reporting in the University’s central administration, has been appointed to the new post of head of group financial planning. The role will encompass the University and the companies it owns. There are six main subsidiaries.
Vice-Chancellor Alan Wilson said: "Institutions are facing increasing pressure to plan for change – and remain flexible enough to cope with more.
"In Leeds, financial planning has mainly been focused on the annual budgeting exercise, but we also need to consider five and ten-year scenarios and changes affecting the sector as a whole."
The new group financial planning role will identify and make recommendations on the medium and long-term finances of the University and its subsidiaries.
Part of Stephen’s role will be to work closely with the departmental support unit to ensure that financial and academic plans are aligned.
