The University has once again topped Oxford and Cambridge in the annual Virgin Alternative Guide to British Universities, rated second in the book’s overall top 20. The table is compiled according to a variety of critertia - academic success, employability of graduates, student satisfaction and the quality of social life.
Editor Piers Dudgeon said the ‘real campus buzz’ associated with Leeds added value to the student experience. The book notes that Leeds last year received more applications than any of the other 95 institutions surveyed and was also second-placed in the UK for graduate employment.
