Regional excellence in healthcare and medical technology was the focus of the Leeds Healthcare 2000 event at the Royal Armouries museum, which attracted a strong turnout from the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, Psychology and Health.
The Faculty put on show some of its work in partnership with industry, with the emphasis on health informatics, biomedical research and physical sciences. In the seminar programme accompanying the exhibition, Professor Mike Smith spoke on research and innovation in the health sector and Professor Ray Cartwright chaired a discussion of the Yorkshire and Humber region as ‘a place to do business’.
The event, co-sponsored by the University, was organised by the city council, the business network Medilink, Business Link Leeds and the city’s TEC, with support from Chambers of Commerce and the European Commission.
