The tenth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was marked by a guest lecture in the German department last month. Herr Hans Mondorf, Consul-General (Manchester) of the Federal Republic of Germany spoke about the social, political and economic effects of the wall's demise. The November 23 lecture coincided with a multi-media exhibition mounted in the departmental foyer by staff and students, depicting the historic events of autumn 1989.
