Prices are being lowered and the menu extended in a bid to increase lunchtime patronage of the Senior Common Room dining-room.
A £2.99 'meal deal' is now available daily of a pasta dish, green salad and fruit juice. The range of salads and hot dishes has been increased, while favourites such as bangers and mash and bubble and squeak will still be available.
"The dining-room has made substantial losses in recent years," said catering manager Bev Kenny. "We hope the new menu and lower pricing will increase the number of regular customers.
"We know that the SCR dining-room is an important feature of University life but it can only continue in its present form if it appeals to a larger section of our community."
The SCR dining-room is open to all staff, postgraduates and visitors (membership of the SCR club is not required).
Waitress service is available at 24 hours notice (ext 4166).
