The University is to help produce the international cricketers of the future through a new partnership with the English Cricket Board (ECB).
The form of the England side has slumped recently and the ECB has responded by establishing six centres of cricketing excellence for students, one of which is to be based in Leeds and Bradford.
The participants will receive top-class coaching and the use of local professional facilities alongside their academic studies. The centre will also be open to budding female cricket stars. The first bowling biologists and food science fielders will arrive next autumn.
