Dr Bala Elamaran, Professor Roger Pollard and Dr Stavros Iezekiel of the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering have been awarded the 1999 Measurements Prize by the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
Professor Joyce Hill of the School of English is the chair of 'Through the Glass Ceiling', an organisation which promotes women's leadership in higher education. Professor Tony May of the Institute for Transport Studies has been made director of transport policy at traffic consultants MVA.
Professor Marjorie Wilson of the School of Earth Sciences has been awarded the degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA) after completing a five-year distance learning course of study in business management with the Open University. Both the SDDU and the School of Earth Sciences contributed towards the total cost of the course.
Professor Katie Wales of the School of English has been appointed to the QAA benchmarking Committee for English. More information is available here.
