The Home Secretary was one of 6,350 graduates awarded degrees by the University during the last fortnight. Thirty-six ceremonies later, the Reporter looks back at some of the stories and images of the summer degree days.

The Home Secretary was one of 6,350 graduates awarded degrees by the University during the last fortnight. Thirty-six ceremonies later, the Reporter looks back at some of the stories and images of the summer degree days.

A record 6,350 students were awarded degrees between July 12 and July 23. This included 470 postgraduates and some 1,300 from University colleges and affiliated institutions.

Retired GP Vivian Simpson, 71, below left, has completed a BA Music part-time degree after five years of travelling from his Scarborough home. "I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience," he said. Meanwhile, Jo Bowers (BA, Broadcasting Studies) is jetting off for a production assistant's job in Hollywood. "It's an amazing opportunity for me" she said.
