Todmorden telescope

The physics and as`tronomy department has donated a second telescope to a local organisation. The 10-inch reflector instrument, not used for about two years, has been given to the Planet Earth Centre, Todmorden. A similar telecope was donated to the West Yorkshire Astronomical Society earlier in the year (see Reporter 431).

"We are really chuffed to get it," said the centre's John Keegan. "We could hever have afforded such a generous gift - it would have cost many thousands of pounds." The centre was hoping to have the telescope set up for the summer's solar eclipse.
