The AUT has announced a one-day strike for May 25. It has instructed its members not to come in to work on that day and has asked members of other unions not to cover for those going on strike.
The decision to strike follows a ballot of AUT members following the rejection of a ‘full and final’ 3.5% pay offer from the University and Colleges Employers Association. The AUT is seeking a pay rise of 10%.
The University says it hopes to keep disruption to a minimum and minimise the impact on students. Guidelines have been issued to departmental heads.
