Professor Peter Dowd, Head of the School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering and the Department of Mining and Mineral Engineering, has been elected as the next President of the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy (IMM). The IMM is in the process of merging with the Institution of Mining Engineers and the new body will be known as the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy. He will be president of the merged organisation.
