Protein work profits

Technology developed by a University of Leeds ‘spin-off’ company is now being used by the largest biotechnology supplier in the world. Applied Enzyme Technology Ltd has licensed its unique protein stabilisation technology to Amersham Pharmacia Biotech Ltd – a Swedish-based company with worldwide sales of more than £430m. The technology stabilises proteins and can prolong the shelf-life of products by months or even years and has applications in a number of areas including food, vaccines and textiles.
