Leeds students have taken part in the countrys first career focused on-line internet question and answer session with Tesco. The company, which receives thousands of applications each year for its graduate training scheme, is the first recruiter to use interactive internet technology to communicate directly with students. 12 of the UKs leading universities took part in the GradChat initiative.
Tesco chief executive Terry Leahy who took part in the discussion said We want to attract the best it made sense to extend our use of the internet to undergraduate recruitment. Caroline Ramage of the Careers Service said The students found it very useful and its really their only chance to talk to people at this level in the company.
