Leeds postgraduate Farah Khan will defend her national billiards title in India in November. Farah, 21 and currently studying for a Masters in International Marketing Management, has been playing billiards for three and a half years and first entered the competition in 1995.
I had to make a choice between turning professional or studying, she says, but this one-year course was an opportunity Ill never have again. She trains at the Northern Snooker Centre in Kirkstall, getting up at 4am some mornings to fit in three hours practice before lectures. The championship starts on 8 November and Farah hopes to return with the trophy for a second time.
