What do the Chinese State Circus, the American cricket team, and the organisers of the Leeds rock festival V97 have in common? They all stayed at the Universitys Clarence Dock student flats during the summer vacation.
There they joined an array of visitors from as far afield as Australia, Japan and the Far East, who all took advantage of the Conference Offices marketing of the waterside flats as holiday apartments. Each flat was fully equipped to provide a home from home atmosphere, and holidaymakers enjoyed money-off vouchers for local attractions.
Clarence Dock proved so popular with visitors to Leeds during the summer that the marketing exercise raised twice as much money for the University as had been expected. Just to prove that the flats were also a hit with those a little closer to home, the complex hosted two wedding parties and a 60th wedding anniversary celebration. The apartments will be available again next year.
