Tony Clifford has taken up a Personal Chair in Chemical Technology. His work is in the area of clean technology and in particular processes in supercritical fluids and superheated water. He has started a company within ULIS, now established as an independent company, to aid the transfer of technology.
Mike Dixon has taken up a Personal Chair in Gastrointestinal Pathology. He has an international reputation for his research into various aspects of gastrointestinal disease and, in particular, for work on the pathology of Helicobacter pylori infection. He has advanced knowledge of the disease associations of this important human infection (peptic ulcer and gastric cancer), and has helped to establish the scientific basis on which advances in treatment and prevention can be measured.
