Sound Alert, winner of this years Prince of Wales innovations award, has found a new use for its life-saving sound system directing visually impaired people to fire exits. Fitted to emergency vehicles, the Localizer was successfully shown to reduce traffic confusion through its use of sounds which are easily pinpointed by the human ear, and this new application will help the visually impaired reach emergency exits in the event of a fire. The Localizer is being installed in a centre for the visually impaired in Cumbria.
