A new Centre will draw together researchers throughout the University working on family life, kinship relations and childhood. Headed by Professor Carol Smart of Sociology and Social Policy, the Centre for Research on Family, Kinship and Childhood will include colleagues from Law, Education and Psychology. Resources will be pooled for cross-disciplinary projects. Funding has already been secured for research into post-divorce childhoods and life as a disabled child. Links with overseas researchers will be strengthened and cross-national studies are expected.
