The first ever National Market Traders' Federation/Harry Cross student grant was made to student Rebecca Zeffert on May 9. Harry Cross, a past president of the NMTF, had been a market trader for most of his life and died in January 1996. The new grant was set up by his son and daughter and the Federation's Benevolent Fund and is awarded to the child of a current member studying at a British university. The presentation was made to Rebecca, a first year student, in the Department of East Asian Studies by Professor Norma Raynes, daughter of the late Harry Cross and lecturer at Huddersfield University.
